DC Team stocking the shelves for Christmas

One of the busiest seasons for the DC Team is Christmas. We send orders into Distribution Centres such as Shop Direct, John Lewis and many other major retailer companies, all ready to be sent to the stores for the Christmas rush.

WHY ARE DISTRIBUTION CENTRES POPULAR WITHIN LOGISTICS?

Companies are searching for efficient distribution methods that enable broad product assortment, a lower level of inventories, shorter customer order fulfilment and lower transportation costs to achieve a more efficient procurement process plus an improved level of customer service.

As a result, DC’s balance inventory costs against tight domestic transportation capacity, rising freight rates and volatile energy prices. An adverse financial impact has occurred due to huge inventory versus transportation trade-offs in time and cost, something that is taking place in many companies as supply chain strategies are challenged.

DANGEROUS GOODS

Here at Bray Solutions we also specialise in Dangerous Goods and the specific requirements for this sector. The DC Team handles this and must follow the exact rules and regulations to make sure everything is in order and every box is ticked. These are normally Sea or Air Freight which are sent anywhere in the world, so far, we have sent orders as far as the USA, Canada, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.

CURRENT WORKLOAD

Our DC team are currently busy processing orders for one of our biggest customers here at Bray to go overseas to a French DC. This order is just under 1000 items which must be converted with French instructions, labels and paperwork and delivered into France by a specific date.

Another customer is busy with Sainsbury’s orders currently, which are being sent nationwide to various outlets. They are also expecting very large orders for Holland, Germany, and various Asian countries in the run-up to Christmas. This is all on top of their daily orders which are regular throughout the year.

Amazon orders have nearly doubled in the last few weeks and will get even busier as we provide stock into various destinations in Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Poland, Greece, and the UK.

PREDICTION FOR CHRISTMAS 2020

We are predicting some of our customer orders to increase in the coming month in preparation as they have done in previous years. With this year being so uncertain we are predicting more of a digital black Friday weekend and Christmas period due to the demand for e-commerce and DC orders due to local restrictions around the country.
